What is EXCALIBUR®?

EXCALIBUR® is a high-performance, automated sheet cutting machine that converts paper rolls into anti-slip interlayers in real time.
 It integrates easily with any type of palletizing robot, including: high-level palletisers, layer palletisers, and collaborative robots.

Whether installed on a new line or integrated into an existing production line, this mobile solution eliminates the need for traditional sheet magazines.

Whether it’s for a new system or retrofit, EXCALIBUR® eliminates the need for traditional sheet magazines at the end-of-line automation stage.
The machine consists of three modular components:

  • A modular frame: Adjustable to robotic or pallet base dispenser configurations
  • Cutting head: High-speed, programmable for up to 15 formats
  • Motorised conveyor: Transfers sheets for layer picker or cobot handling

Slip Sheet Reduction eliminates format stockouts with real-time cutting, while Automatic Palletizing supplies interlayers directly into the system.

With Interlayer Placement, sheets are fed to robot grippers with high precision, and Palletizing Integration ensures smooth compatibility with all systems. Thanks to Flexible Format Changes, updates can be made directly via the user interface (HMI), and Palletizing Line Optimization reduces downtime while improving overall layout efficiency.

How does EXCALIBUR® work?

EXCALIBUR® operates in two modes:

Autonomous mode

An operator selects a format manually; the machine runs in continuous mode.

Communicating mode

EXCALIBUR® receives signals from the robotic or automated system and cuts one of 15 pre-set formats accordingly.

Commissioning is fast – typically completed in under half a day.
The machine is compatible with both new lines and retrofitted production environments, even where electrical installation options are limited.
